Winter West Virgina

I have decided to try to blog once a week. I am new at all of this so I'm not quite sure of the time frame that bloggers follow :) I think that once a week will give me plenty to blog about because a week in the life of the Higgins is usually jammed pack with lots and lots of fun things!

So, let me begin by saying, THANK GOD FOR TUBES! My baby is back to normal and after ten days of not eating, she has finally decided she did miss food!

Praise God! We are all sleeping much better these day :) The doctor told us that she had major drainage from both ears and we all believe that she probably had backed up fluid in both ears since birth. She did not do well while waking up after surgery, but after about an hour of screams and tears, she finally calmed down and gave us a few smiles! We believe that she is much happier now and can finally hear the way that she is supposed to! She had surgery at 7:30 AM on January 6th at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio.

Next, we get the word where Jim is going for work and after much prayer we have decided to keep our duplex in Canton. The girls and I will visit Jim every moment that we can. With that being said, we have 3 homes now. It's crazy how God keeps moving us and every time I think it's too much to handle with two little ones on the road, He provides something that we cannot say no to. He is always so faithful. Although being away from Jim a few days a week seems like absolute torture, we know that God has reason. He is molding us and shaping us for something huge that we cannot see. He is forming us into the children He wants us to be. So, we are just holding on for dear life and counting our blessings while we wait :)

The newest adventure.
West Virginia

Before Poppa loaded up to head to another state, we decided to take the girls for some fun. We had heard of a new place in Canton called Skymax. I checked it out on Facebook and it looked pretty cool. A building filled with nothing but trampolines cannot be anything but fun right? It was awesome. They have trampoline basketball, volleyball, foam pits, tons of trampoline tracks too. You can block off sessions of times as you please. We chose 30 minutes and it was plenty. Addi had a blast and didn't want to leave! Jim and I brushed off some of our gymnastic skills and polished up our backflips! Ha!

On a different note, I have decided to do something new...for myself! I have made the decision that I want to be healthier. I want to live longer for my husband and my children. I want to live life to the fullest and finish my day with energy and drive. I do not want to feel like I am barely making it day in and day out because my body is crying out for help! So, with that being said, here is my new way of life -
CROSSFIT

Crossfit is changing my life. I absolutely love it. I train at a gym called Crossfit Utility in Akron, OH and I love it there. These people have it together. We train hard for an entire hour and it is structured perfectly. Warm up, WOD, mobility. I LOVE IT.
We are changing our diet too. We already eat gluten free because of Addison's food allergy, but now I am incorporating the Paleo diet too. It's pretty simple. You eat what cave men ate. I have found several resources that make it easier. I pray that God gives me the endurance to make this a lifetime effort. I do not want to do this for a little while and quit. I want to teach my children a healthier life. My heart is to see them realize the importance of eating healthy and exercising. I do not want my children to fall into America's diet and America's self inflicted diseases. There are too many other things that we cannot control for them to contribute to their own bad health. So, I write this to form a sense of accountability :)

Moving on. It only took two days after Jim left for me to load up the girls and head straight to him. We originally planned on staying two nights but that turned into.... well we are still here. Haha. Today makes our fourth day. I found a gym here that I can drop in at on days that I'm not in Canton. We love the house here. It is a three story home with four bedrooms and two baths. It has beautiful 10 foot vaulted ceilings and actually make me think of Natchez. There is a antique touch to it that I love. The town is tucked away in the foothills and it's beautiful here. We are close enough to town but far enough away to be comfortable. We were snowed in yesterday but we watched movies and worked on lots of school work. We had a blast! Addison loves "teaching" her baby sister about all of the things she has learned!
Too precious for words.

While we have been here these few days, GraceAnn has turned 7 months old AND she has started recognizing her own voice more. She is beginning to understand that she controls when noise comes out! I noticed she was making the "mmmmmm" sound quite a bit. I got my hopes up at first and then I thought, "No, all babies say DaDa first...don't count on her saying Momma" Not to mention, her daddy is the one that makes her light up like a firecracker when he walks through the door! Well, I was wrong! My little one is purposefully saying MOMMA! when she wants me :) I am so excited!!! This is so fun!

We plan on heading back to Ohio shortly. We will stay a few days and head back to Jim when we cannot stand it anymore ;) Let's be honest, who would want to be away from this ---->

I'll sign off by saying how extremely thankful I am that God has given me this life to live. Some people think I'm nuts for following my husband on the road of a pipeline worker. Yes, it is -11 degrees at times. Yes, I do have a 7 month old and a high spirited three year old. Yes, there are days that I wonder what in the world I'm going to do 1090 miles away from "home" and my family. But, I promise you that God has made this the best adventure of my life. I have realized that as long as I have Jim and my babies, I am ok. God is giving us this time to learn to lean on one another and bond without the rest of "life" getting in the way. It's truly a blessing. My husband is my rock. He is one heck of a man. That man is up before the sun rises, in the freezing snow all day long (some days wading through creeks and briar bushes) and home after dark. He comes in with a smile on his face, plays with our kids, and always makes sure to tell me how thankful he is for all that I do. He has never gone one day without telling me how beautiful he thinks I am. I cannot remember a time I have heard him complain about this life we live. Love that man with all of me!

And these little chick-a-dees too ;-)

God Bless
